I’m Nina, a UX researcher/designer based in Maryland with a background in research and healthcare. As a research assistant at a university, I learned mixed-method research to uncover user insights. As a medical assistant and clinical project manager, I developed empathy and extensive knowledge of end-user perspectives. I also have other experiences as a data entry and translator, which has helped me to know other cultures.
I discovered UX through personal experience. As someone living with Type 1 Diabetes, I rely on poorly designed medical apps. So, with my research skills, I set out to make my life easier. I reached out to other Type 1 communities to understand their issues with these apps. After gathering feedback and brainstorming with medical experts, I shared these insights with customer service teams to make improvements. This journey made me look at UX in professional terms.
Outside of work, I've taken up interior design as a hobby (good luck to my husband! lol), and my usual habit is reading books when I have some free time from my toddler.
